The plunge, gardens, and cereal!

I did it! I took the plunge and signed up to be a Creative Memories Consultant. I’m sooo very excited and terrified at the same time. Creating family albums has become a passion. It’s just so very important to preserve those memories, for us as we grow older, and for our children as they grow up. The prospect of running my own business is daunting, but this will allow me to continue to stay at home with my family while bringing in some income and feel like I’m contributing something back. Please let me know if you or someone you know may be interested in having a get together to learn more. It could be about anything from simply organizing all of your photos, to putting together paper and/or digital albums. I would love to help! I’m also hoping to help bereaved parents preserve their children’s memories. It can be very difficult to do that on your own.

The secret garden project is back in motion. We have a sprinkler man coming out tomorrow to give us a final quote to install the sprinkler system, and then he will be available in two weeks to do the job. I can’t wait to get this done so we can move on to the fun stuff, the actual landscaping and plants!

Madie is eagerly awaiting her summer break so she can sleep in, while Lily has decided that sleeping through the night is over-rated. I think Lily needs to take a cue from her older sister! Lily has also started on solids. Rice cereal and apples are the current menu, we’ll try bananas in the next couple of days. She’s really starting to get the hang of it.

Thanks for checking in on us. We’d love to hear from you so leave us a comment!

Lily’s first bite. Yumm!

Either she likes the cereal, or she’s just happy to be in nothing but a diaper.

Here’s Madie in her rock climbing class. She made it all the way to the top!

Happy Easter My Love!

Happy Easter to my sweet sweet boy, how I miss you so. I keep waiting for time to pass so the pain of your loss will be dimmed, and yet I miss you more than ever. I’m getting better at hiding it, denying the pain. This isn’t a good thing I know, but I feel like I owe it to the girls to be a happy and loving mother. I’m sure I’m over compensating, but oh well, one day at a time I guess.

The one-year celebration went better than I had hoped for. It was so nice to have everyone there showing their support of us and their love for Ben. It was a very healing day for me. I don’t know if we’ll plan on doing something every year to mark the day of his passing. Simply celebrating his birthday may be enough. As Dean said in the earlier post, we have an amazing amount of animals, and more keep finding their way to us. I may ask for further help from some of you to get the yellow ribbon and tags put on all of the animals. It’s a much bigger undertaking than I had originally planned!

The girls are doing so beautifully, they are the loves of my life. Madie absolutely loves Kindergarten and is also looking forward to summer break. She is very proud of the fact that she can read now, and practices constantly. Lily is my ever-smiling bundle of pure joy. I believe that she has come to us to help us all heal.

Well, that’s all for today. We’ll be starting up the garden project again and have lots of great ideas, so keep checking back.

Thank you all for your support and prayers. We really do feel blessed by them.

Celebration Recap

We had a wonderful celebration of Ben’s life on Sunday surrounded by our family and friends. Nothing too fancy; just a fun gathering of the people who loved Ben and wanted to remember the wonderful times that we spent with him.

Our friends Abe & Shan commissioned the plaque shown above for our garden. It’s mounted on a huge stone that will become the central point for the entire garden project.

The stuffed animal drive for the kids getting radiation treatment at the Anschutz Cancer Pavilion has been a huge success. We’ve collected 102 animals (so far) thanks to our family, friends & coworkers. It feels great to be able to organize something so simple that means so much to a child in a scary situation.

Thank you all for joining us.
