Sans Willie

Melinda had an ultrasound today to check in on the baby and everything looks great. The baby is right on track size wise for eighteen weeks and has all of the right bits for a little girl - or none of the bits for a boy depending on how you look at things. We couldn’t be happier with the news on how she’s doing and Madie has been bouncing off the walls with the thought of a baby sister.

Thanks to everyone with input on name suggestions. I think we’ve scraped the anagram idea. Madie, in her normal fashion, has taken matters into her own hands and has named the baby “Pineapple Cecilia”. I guess we’re sticking with it until something better comes along - as if that could happen.

So glad to get your news! Madie’s name is great. Merry wanted to name Jon - “Big Bird”, so I’d say “Pineapple Cecilia” is just fine with us. Creativity is one of the spices of life.

(Would the nickname be “PC” to demonstrate interest in computers and also being politically correct?)

We think of you often with loving thoughts.

CONGRATULATIONS to Madie for her baby sister!!!! (Sorry to Dean as you will now be out numbered 3 to 1) I am happy that Pineapple Cecilia is doing well. Give yourselves hugs from Abe, Quinn and I. Love you!!!

  3. Pineapple Cecilia is so original! I like it!

  4. Amber, Jim and Jack says:

Congrats! How exciting, so glad all three girls are doing well. Dean too! Much love to you all.

  5. I’m sorry. I never did say congratulations!! I was thinking about the naming. Maybe you can choose a name that begins with a B to honor Ben. There are a lot of nice ones:

    Briana
    Becka
    Bella
    Brandy
    Bridget
    Brenda
    ….

Of course, if you want to stick with the fruit theme, there is always Bananna Anna! :)

Dexter and I would like to suggest the name “Purple Banana”. It makes perfect sense to us, but we’ll have to explain it when we see you.

    xxoo

Cecilia is just fine with a namesake. If Cecilia named your new daughter it would be called “Flowers.” We are thrilled to hear another girl is on the way…we are somewhat partial to them. :) Raspberries! Abby

Well, so much for our “boy” name list!! Thought you might enjoy the “runner-up” girl names…all good, just not “the one.” Here goes…Ella, Anna, Sasha, Camille, Corrine, Gwen, and Ava. Joe wanted Beatrice. Cecilia could have been Camille. Sophia would have been Ella (my choice), or Beatrice (Joe’s choice). Sophia is a family name on the Bottenberg side, and we both liked it. Ella is a name on the Uken side, but a co-worker of Joe’s was a name-stealer, and ruined it. Beatrice is a name on the Brittish side. :) We are not Brittish. Happy hunting! Raspberries, Abby

    Melinda,

Thinking of you on this Mother’s Day! So, you think it’s a little girl? Great to hear your pregnancy is going so well. Looking forward to meeting your new bundle of joy. Sure, hope you weed out some of the names I have been reading.

My exciting Mother’s Day news is that I am exploring the possibility of adoption. My counselor has two little girls in mind for me (not together). One girl is 4 and the other is 6. God willing one day I will be a Momma too!

Please give Madie a big hug from me and I hope to see you all next week……Love, Jen

Thinking of you all…Dean, Melinda, Madie and Pinapple C and sending my love!!!

Forgot to mention “Adia” which means “gift” in Swahili, and “Ada” which not only was Grt. G-ma’s name, but also the name of the first female computer programmer–Ada Byron. “Ada” means “noble, happy.” (German) Don’t know why I’m partial to “A” names… Raspberries, Abby P.S. “Babynames.com” is a great site. P.P.S. “Pineapple Cecilia” either means “Blind fruit” or “A crazy child has named you.”

I’ve been reading your blog…I found you through Genuine only a day or so after your son passed. I sat in front of the computer and cried, even though it was a child I had never met and knew next to nothing about. My husband walked in and saw me crying and, thinking me silly, sat down himself to read. There were tears in his eyes then. Words can’t express how sorry I am that Ben left this world at such a young age, but I do know that he’s made me hold my children a little tighter, a little longer, and helped me to realize what a gift they truly are.

Congratulations on the new baby who, while she won’t take Ben’s place, might help to heal your family.

And just because I can’t help but get involved in the name game, and I really love the idea of using some of Ben’s name, how about Mina?

    Take care.

I feel like I know Ben from your stories. I have lost two aunts this way…but I still remember even after 20 years, the great moments spent together.

Congrats for the little Pineaple Cecilia. My suggestion for the name would be my own name: “Isa” (translated “Jesus” in Arabic) and “Bella” to honor Ben. No matter what, Madie will protect her sister.

God bless you for your wonderful family! An angel is above watching over you.

    Dearly,

    Isabela
