Back to Vacation

The week I spent “in the office” proved a little more stressful on everyone than I anticipated, so it’s back to vacation for me! I’ve been saving up my vacation time for the last few years for just such a situation and I figured that I had better use it or lose it. This also gives me a few more weeks to get prepared for the major yard work out back.

Melinda is finally over her morning sickness and is getting into the rhythm of her frequent check-ups. Madie and I have been tagging along to hear the baby’s heartbeat. I’m not sure which one of us is most excited for the new baby. Madie is constantly hugging Melinda’s belly and asking about what’s going on in there.

Speaking of the baby, we’ve been working on name ideas. Melinda wanted something that was an anagram of Benjamin, but that left us with very choices. Not that I don’t want a son named ‘Ninja.’ Madie insists that it’s a girl and immediately vetoes any masculine names as “too boyish.” I’m being helpful by suggesting names that sound funny at first, but get old really fast. Like Coffee Annan Steadman. We hope to be making a formal announcement on the front runners shortly, but welcome your comments and recommendations in the meantime.

Anagrams for Benjamin….hmmm that is a good one. Never been good at that. I came up with Benji (but that is just asking to be harassed his/her entire life) Janine or Jamine (for girls) That is all I can come up with at this point.

    How did your interview go?

    Love you guys!!!

Here’s one partial anagram for you - Jamie. I guess that sounds more girlish to me though. Or what about keeping Benjamin as a middle name?

Hugs and love to all of you,
    Cori

Jamie could be a boy or a girl. I like Jasmine for a girl or Jemma, which is hebrew for dove. I’m not sure how popular it would be but Job is hebrew for ‘afflicted one’ which may be a tribute to Ben.

A friend of mine was just trying to pick “J” baby names and she had come up with these.

Cecilia didn’t have a name for 3 days after she was born…same for Sophia. Sometimes you just have to see what fits. Will you find out the sex of the baby and let us in on it? Any name will have it’s critics, so we kept our front runners to ourselves…boy, are you guys brave! Not to mention the NAME STEALERS who use YOUR name before you can! Just tell everyone you’re going with “Pubert” for boy, and “Dorkus” for a girl. Won’t everyone love the REAL name once it’s announced, plus the NAME STEALERS will have to focus on some other family. Since we never had a boy to name, the names we liked are still available: Maxwell, Leo, Vincent, Joachim, Gavin. Sending Raspberries! Love, Abby

Even if you don’t find an anagram of Ben, the baby will always know about his special brother.

As for anagrams….that is a toughie. I can only see partials, like Jeb, Minne (without the other i), Amie. How about first and middle name?

I happened to read a post on Genuine’s blog about your family losing your son and I had to stop over here and share my condolences. I have three kids, my youngest… a boy… was born just a couple of weeks before Ben. I read thru a few of your posts and have to say the tears that are running down my face are in both sympathy and thanks. Sometimes I tend to forget how precious my children are. When you go thru every day routines you get caught up in everything and let the little stuff get to you (a spilled cup of milk, 1001 crayons dumped on your livingroom carpet, not wipeing the “seat” in the bathroom, etc.) - Your posts about your beautiful son have opened my eyes and made me realize every single day that I have with my own children are so very important and special. Your son’s a beautiful angel now watching over you and your family and I’m sure he cannot wait to become a big brother again. God bless your family. I will keep you all in my thoughts and prayers.

Hmm…anagrams…smargana? Naw. Too Eastern Europe. I actually have a serious suggestion, though: Jasmine. Hints of Benjamin are definitely in there — good for a girl, but sort of “Ashley”-esque for a boy. Well, we’re REALLY looking forward to seeing all of you over the Memorial Day weekend!

Lots of love and strength to all of you,

    Colin & Roby

Thinking of you always. Hope to see you sometime soon. Maybe another movie night with the girls? Or game night with everyone? Keep us posted on the yard plans. We’llbe there when you need to start hauling and diging.

    Much love!
